Cycle Tracking
-
That depends on your goals, symptoms and what patterns you’re interested in noticing.
As a basic start, you’ll want to track:
What day of your cycle you are on (first day of last bleed = day 1)
What your energy levels are like
Physical aspects - such as pain, discomfort, appetite, exercise, hydration and sleep
-
Choose a method
If you don’t know what day you’re on - just make a start and fill that bit in later
Keep it simple if you feel overwhelmed - focusing on just 2 or 3 things
Track daily - I advise on the evenings so you can reflect on the full day
Don’t force it if it feels distressing
Don’t worry about it being perfect - it’s more about noticing patterns than research-perfect data
Important Note: Find a way to track some sort of context per day. What happens during that day in your life can impact your results, and also help remind you of particular days/symptoms and give you a clearer picture.
For example: If you have a difficult day at work, receive some bad news and the weather is not great - this will impact your answers compared to a day off, seeing your friends, or just chilling out.
Context helps you understand the framework your cycle is operating in, and how things may impact it.
-
Below is a comprehensive list of all the things you could track.
If you’re not sure what to track, have a look at the list below and see what it feels most useful to know more about:

Bleed
Energy levels
Mood
Pain
Symptoms - fatigue, bloating, headaches, cramping, breast tenderness, brain fog, acne etc.
Sleep quality
Stress levels
Exercise and movement
Social capacity
Hydration

There are so many ways to cycle track - not just what you’re tracking, but how you do it.
